Scheduled Critique & Pitch!

A few exciting things this past month that make this whole trying-to-get-published thing feel more real 😊

The other month I signed up to attend the Realm Makers annual writers conference and paid for a couple “extras,” a one-on-one critique appointment and a one-on-one pitch appointment. But those of us who signed up for one-on-ones were not sent the links to sign up for specific experts and times until May. And they sent those out in order of when people registered, so you aren’t guaranteed getting the person or time you want. Now I’m signed up!

I have submitted the first ten pages of my manuscript to an editor with Tyndale House Publishers and scheduled a time to review it with her. Biting my nails here!

I have signed up for a pitch appointment with Donald Maass. Which feels like craziness!

Those two people are definitely experts in their field and better than I could have wished for otherwise. Statistically speaking, nothing will come of it in regards to my manuscript getting published, BUT I will definitely learn a lot. I am oh so excited!

Meanwhile, I’m getting critiques from writer friends on my query letter draft and continuing finishing out my proposal. I want to have everything ready by the time I have those two appointments in July.

What is an opportunity you’ve experienced that you felt was beyond what you could’ve wished for? What did you learn?
